Prestressed Power Springs are manufactured from flat rectangular steel strip and wound in the opposite direction to standard power springs, taking an 'S' shape when released. This pre-stressing technique allows the spring to store 25–55% greater energy than a conventional power spring of the same size, and provides a higher number of working turns. They are retained in a housing or case during application. Ideal for fall arresters, hose retractors, seat belts, cable reels, and any mechanism requiring stable high torque with compact dimensions.
